Born in 1922 and deceased in 2005, the popular author of mystery novels, Charlotte Macleod, hailed from Canada and later held an American citizenship. Her body of work spans across popular series such as the Peter Shandy series, Sarah Kelling & Max Bittersohn series, alongside others in the guise of her pseudonym Alisa Craig, such as the Madoc Rhys and Grub-And-Stakers series. Her journey in the US started when her family relocated from New Brunswick shortly after her birth. This pioneer in literature refined her skills at the Art Institute of Boston before formally beginning her journey as an author while working as a copywriter. Her unique writing style is characterised by a light touch and the creation of intriguing, eccentric characters. Her life’s journey ended in a nursing home in 2005 due to Alzheimer’s disease.
