H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937), an American horror writer, didn’t achieve significant fame during his lifetime. Despite his immense creative output, Lovecraft’s final days were painfully marked by small intestine cancer and malnutrition. His work, however, left an indelible impact: Stephen King, himself a master of horror, described Lovecraft as “the twentieth century’s greatest practitioner of the classic horror tale.”

Lovecraft began his publishing journey in 1923 with the poetry collection, The Poetical Works of Jonathan E. Hoag.
