Rebekah Makkai is an esteemed American author, prolific in composing riveting stories that captivate readers. Making her debut in 2011 with ‘The Borrower’, her work was met with instant acclaim, earning a spot in Booklist’s Top Ten Debut and catching the attention of ‘O magazine’. Hailing from Lake Bluff, Illinois, Rebekah is the progeny of two linguistics professors; a background that no doubt influenced her passion for words and storytelling. Interestingly, she also shares blood ties with her paternal grandmother, the acclaimed Hungarian novelist Ignacz Rozsa. Alongside her writing career, Rebekah has worn the hats of a teacher at several reputable institutions including Northwestern University, Lake Forest College and Sierra Nevada College, and is the Artistic Director at StoryStudio Chicago.
