Regarded as the mastermind behind the compelling House of Cards series, Michael Dobbs is an English author notable for his political thriller novels. The Netflix series carrying the same title was inspired by these gripping narratives.
Born and brought up in England, Dobbs moved to the United States during his early adulthood. Here, he developed a robust academic foundation in nuclear defense studies and earned his M.A., M.A.L.D., and Ph.D degrees.
In return to England, Dobbs found his political feet serving as an adviser to Margaret Thatcher, the then opposition leader, and later as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party under John Major’s governance. However, he is best known as “Westminster’s baby-faced hitman.” His political acumen is echoed through his engrossing narratives and intricate storylines, a testament to his unique writing style. Dobbs has since bid adieu to politics and now resides in Walsall with his wife and four children.
