Born and raised in Canada to a mixed-race couple who emigrated from Washington, D.C. in 1953, Lawrence Hill has established himself as a prolific author, with an impressive body of work, that spans both fiction and non-fiction. Initially, Lawrence dreamt of Olympic glory as a runner; however, destiny introduced him to the world of storytelling. As a young boy, he would write on his mother’s typewriter, completing his first story by the tender age of 14.
Following his heart, Lawrence pursued his higher studies in economics from Laval University in Quebec City and refined his writing prowess with an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Our nomadic author has resided and produced phenomenal work in various Canadian locations, as well as in Baltimore, Spain and France. Presently, he divides his time between Hamilton, Ontario, and Woody Point, Newfoundland along with his family.
